A magnificent performance by pop star Katy Perry at King Charles III’s Coronation event at Windsor Castle garnered media attention over the weekend. While performing for the 20,000-person crowd assembled to honour the new queen, Perry joined artists including Lionel Richie and Take That.
Mary Perry, a Pentecostal minister, was present, the 38-year-old singer of “Firework” said in an Instagram post to her followers. The inside of Perry’s custom Vivienne Westwood gown, which read “Katy Perry [Crown symbol] Charles III 2023 VW,” was also shown in a photo that she posted.
Perry’s eye-catching metallic gold ballgown, which featured a plunging neckline, a backless design, draped sleeves, and a long train, was the ideal choice for the inaugural Coronation Concert. Along with matching opera gloves, she was also wearing stunning golden cherub earrings.
With a stunning light show and impressive pyrotechnics, Perry impressed the audience as she played a number of her most well-known songs, including “Roar” and “Firework.” In an homage to her famous song “Roar,” one of the drones even took the shape of a tiger’s head.
Fans praised Perry’s attire as one of the finest of the evening, with one saying, “Katy Perry. Unassuming gold lame vision. I’m sure the moon could see her outfit. Also drawing analogies to gold-foil Quality Street packages, Perry’s outfit attracted some amusing remarks.
Perry wore a lilac short-sleeved jacket and matching skirt from the Vivienne Westwood archives to the Coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Saturday. Perry was also present at the event. Vivienne Westwood accessories, opera gloves, and a headdress made of tulle and crinoline completed the look.
King Charles III launched the British Asian Trust in 2007, and Perry, who serves as its ambassador, was seen taking her place among the ceremony’s 2,200 attendees.
Around 20,000 spectators attended the Coronation Concert, which was the centrepiece of the second day of coronation festivities and included performances by Paloma Faith, Lionel Richie, Steve Winwood, and classical artists such Andrea Bocelli, Sir Bryn Terfel, and Lang Lang.
Fans were left speechless by Perry’s performance, which was the ideal way to round up a spectacular weekend of celebrations. One reader summed it up this way: “Katy Perry came to slay.”
