Like Rekha and Cher, Priyanka Chopra claims she wants to be recognised only by her first name: “I never even use my last name
The premiere of Priyanka Chopra’s forthcoming Prime Video series Citadel is rapidly approaching. Priyanka portrays espionage agent Nadia Sinh in the Russo Brothers-created television series. In a recent interview, Priyanka—who launched the Citadel promotional campaign in Mumbai a few weeks ago—said that she prefers to use just her first name, citing Cher and Rekha as examples.
Prior to this, Priyanka has shared a number of intriguing details about Citadel as well as how she got to be involved with the endeavour. According to the actor, Citadel was the first time in her 22-year acting career that she got wage parity with that of her male co-star in the show. In addition, she admitted that despite being required to do so during her early years in Hollywood, she did not try out for the role in Citadel.
Now, the actor was questioned recently in an interview with The Telegraph-t2 about having a name like Priyanka and how it is utilised in Hollywood. Priyanka responded, “I fully capitalise on the fact that I am the only Priyanka most Americans are familiar with. However, there are at least six Priyankas present everytime I visit India! I’ve become accustomed to living in India as a simple PC throughout the years. However, I am the only one when I travel to America. Even there, I almost ever use my last name anymore. I now desire to resemble Cher! maybe Rekha! Simply Priyanka! (Laughter) I adore it.
Six episodes make up Priyanka’s spy drama Citadel’s debut season, the first two of which will air on Prime Video on April 28. In addition to starring Richard Madden, Stanley Tucci, and Lesley Manville, Citadel is executive produced by the Russo Brothers and showrunner David Weil.
With stars Idris Elba and John Cena, the actress will begin filming her upcoming feature film, Heads of State, in the UK. Additionally, hubby Nick’s tour with the Jonas Brothers in the UK takes place at the same time as the photo shoot. In the meanwhile, Priyanka is working on Love Again, which will debut in May. Priyanka will appear in the movie alongside Sam Heughan, Celine Dion, Russell Tovey, and Nick will also make a brief appearance.
