The Ponniyin Selvan 2 cast was recently introduced to actress Aishwarya Rai during a screening. She travelled with her family, including their daughter Aaradhya and husband, actor Abhishek Bachchan. Everyone in the movie’s cast took turns greeting and hugging Aishwarya and Aaradhya at the screening, and several even complimented the little child.

Aaradhya first received a hug from Vikram, who said, “You look more and more fabulous.” He was complimented for the compliment by Aaradhya. She hugged her and Trisha Krishnan said, “God, you are as tall as your mum now!” Aaradhya answered by grinning.

The group gathered again for photos, which were posted to the Madras Talkies Instagram account. While Aaradhya was dressed in white and pink, Aishwarya wore a blue suit. Abhishek was wearing his customary casual all-black attire. Trisha appeared at ease in her outfit of a black top, black trousers and a blue shirt. Vikram had dreadlocks in his hair and looked fashionable in a patterned shirt. He was also sporting sunglasses.

On Friday, Ponniyin Selvan 2 hit cinemas. The Tamil historical play, which is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novels from 1955, tells the tale of Arulmozhivarman’s early life. He was a strong southern monarch who later rose to become Rajaraja Chola I, the great Chola ruler. Along with Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and others, they make up the star cast. It was made available nationwide in five languages. The movie is expected to have made over 55 crore worldwide and 38 crore in India on its first day.

The movie’s director, Mani Ratnam, said in a statement, “India has been producing Hindi films for years, and they have travelled to the south. There have been many cases, and Aradhana was a big hit. I believe it is only a gift in return.

It’s a great indicator that you can create a movie in India in any language, and it will still be considered an Indian movie—not just a north, south, or Hindi movie. So, in my opinion, it’s good. I believe that more people are accepting of it now, which can only improve the calibre of films overall by bringing in a wider range of talent and films.

Aaradhya was born in 2011 and Aishwarya and Abhishek wed in 2007. Aaradhya frequently goes with her mother to events in India and abroad. She was last spotted with her in Mumbai at the inauguration of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre.
